Now that you have made the decision to take the giant leap into marriage, planning for the journey down the aisle can be a daunting one.
"First things first" as Emily Post says! Begin by making key decisions and work your way to the finishing touches. Separate your primary decisions from those can wait awhile. Often the secondary decisions will fall into place naturally.
What should your first choices be?
1. Your Guest List
Decisions about your wedding cannot be made until you have figured how many people you want to invite. This will determine your venue choice and budget.
2. Your Budget
If your budget is limited, and whos isn't these days, you may have to decide what will take priority, a big glamorous wedding with a shorter guest list, or a larger guest list with a more modest reception.
Other options are to choose a time of year, day of the week or more affordable reception site, where costs will be less. The size of your wedding party should also be a consideration, more attendants, the more bouquets and gifts you'll need to buy for them.
3. The Style of Your Wedding
When choosing a location for your ceremony and reception, consider the overall style you want, such as formal or family friendly, traditional or out of the ordinary.
Once you have made these basic, yet huge, decisions, all the smaller stuff will fall into place much more easily. Coming soon: the second round of decisions!
